Optical Sensor Field Test
23-24 september 2010
UPDATE: Test is being rescheduled (approx. two months) and it will be carried out in confined pool waters
Test of the optical sensor at sea. Optical hand-held hyperspectral sensor (GER1500) and thermal camera (Trotec IC60) will be calibrated at open sea. A sea area will be circumscribed by a double layer of floating and absorbing booms and small quantities (1/2lt.) of crude oils and derivatives will be poured inside. The calibration instrument response will be acquired and compared with results from electronic nose calibration. Experts from Coast Guard and Department of National Civilian Protection will take part and supervise the test, and the area will be reclaimed at the end of the experiment.
